We at flashquake have been extremely fortunate to have worked with editor and resident Energizer™ Bunny Didi Wood for the past few years. Didi's enthusiasm was infectious, and we could always count on her to do whatever was asked, no matter how impossible it seemed. We will all miss Didi very much, but for now, she's left us with a farewell:

"After six (!) years at flashquake, it is time for me to move on. I want to focus on my own writing for a while, and also to consider new literary challenges and experiences. Thank you to the talented writers who entrust flashquake with their precious work each quarter — I've read thousands of your stories and poems, and I've learned from them, both those that were selected and those that were not. Thank you, too, to my fellow flashquake editors for giving me the chance to be part of this worthy and relevant publication. I'll miss you! I wish you well, and I look forward to reading your future issues."

Replacing Didi — not that it's possible to replace Didi — will be frequent guest editor Sharon Hurlbut. After earning a Ph.D. in physical anthropology, Sharon put her career on hold to raise her two daughters. At the same time, she discovered a love of writing that has become an integral part of her life. Her poetry and fiction are published under her pen-name Ann Walters and have appeared in Poet Lore, Orbis, Main Street Rag, Kalliope, THEMA, and many others. She has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize and was a finalist in the 2007 LICHEN Tracking a Serial Poet competition.
