Featured Artist: Tessa Chudy

About the Artist:

I am currently studying toward a PhD in creative writing, exploring the links between the landscape and people. My art is about telling stories and creating alternative realities that it is possible to get lost in. I have always loved stories and pictures that tell stories.

I live in a small town called Mount George but I have been spoilt and spent most of my life living on properties. I find living in town a very strange experience. I have chronic fatigue and have found that writing and drawing is a way of escaping from exhaustion.

My first love in art is printmaking, which I studied at the Institute of Technical and Further Education (TAFE) in New South Wales. I am trying to reach the stage of drawing where I feel comfortable with my work in a range of media, so far only charcoal and ink have worked for me.

Artist's Statement

My art is imaginative and is about internality. Each picture is, in a sense, a narrative. I have studied both fine arts and creative writing and elements of both go into creating the internal reality of my pictures. My website is www.redbubble.com/people/curly9/art.
