Autumn Vacancy
The colors of late fall are captured in this simple image of a forest at the
edge of a clearing with picnic tables. Purple/gray tree skeletons intermingle
with the traditional colors of autumn in a band across the center. The
intricacy of the lace-like tangle of trees is balanced with large areas of
relatively flat color in the foreground grass and the blue to gray sky above.
Face in the Glass
This closeup of a glass window riddled with holes is about overlapping patterns
and abstract forms. Reading the image like an ink blot, the artist sees a face
in the lacy patterns of shattered plate glass. These could as easily be read as
a frosty window pane with fingers of ice due to the overall cool color scheme of
blues and greens.
Generator House
This piece plays up the juxtaposition of warm and colors. The block house and
brown grasses of the foreground stand out nicely against the coolness of the
tree skeletons in the background.
Golden Rolls
This image captures a much earlier fall scene than some of the others. The
rolls of hay present themselves against trees and grass still green and in full
leaf. The weathered barn board provides a cool spot for eye to rest in the
center of the composition.
Pithole City Reflection
This picture of an old town reflected in glass, once again plays up the
contrast of warm and cool colors. The sky and roofs of buildings wash the top
half in cool colors while the lower half is warm ochre from the clapboard
buildings. Streaks of white overlay the entire scene due to the reflected
light.

In Flight
This image could be any time of year. The gulls taking flight against a blue
sky offer a composition limited colors to balance the action in the piece.
In Flight Home
This is an image taken out the window of jet liner. The arc of the wing slices
across a sky with manipulated color and hovers above a ground of fluffy dark
clouds below. The manipulation enhances the abstract quality of the
composition.
Passion Flower
This close up of the exotic flower takes advantage of the complex bloom by
nestling it in a bed of lush green leaves. The square composition works to make
the flower the main focus.
Sunflower Center
Full advantage is taken of even light to reduce the complex center of a
sunflower into a warm bull's eye. The intricate patterns provide plenty of
visual interest in the basic and minimal composition.
Wilting Flower
Our cover photo captures the time between the flower's full glory and total
demise. The beautiful colors of the bloom's glory linger even as the ends of the petals
wilt and begin to droop. Warm yellows, oranges and reds pop against a bed of
cool greens.
