Karen Sloan was born in Toronto, Canada, but currently resides in the Haliburton area of Ontario, just south of Algonquin Park.
 
Karen is an active member of the Haliburton Studio Tour, the Toronto Botanical Garden, a past member of the Toronto Arts and Letters Club, the Cedar Ridge Creative Centre, and a member of the Haliburton Arts Council. Karen has taught courses for both adults and children in Haliburton County and has also taught floral design at community centres in Toronto.
