Moondance
by Jaime Lee Moyer

Throw the windows wide, love,
While I sing down the moon,
Melodies laced through with alchemy
Carried heavenward by a willing breeze
Will coax her to desert a jealous sky,
My gift to you
Who will take nothing from me.

Throw wide your windows, love,
While I sing down the moon,
And you and I,
Though miles and years separate us,
Can watch her dance atop a hushed river,
Skip across mountain ranges and
Pirouette for joy under silent prairie nights,
Free of the chains that bound her
The moon can dance,
Wearing her crown of silver stars and
A dress of midnight promises.
