So what if she never lets go?
this is the place she always wanted
to become
a serious rustic aristocrat
polished and threadbare
in the classic style
If she were a building she'd be
torn down and replaced
no glass cathedral but a
smudged and worn out
tenement: one floor, no windows

Events like this rarely make the news

The lady prefers to be left alone
seeks out crowds to feel
swallowed up and empty
She can't get that at home

Does she dance? Regrettably.
Only to prove that she can't
Still she waits
one foot tapping
for the man she
doesn't need
He'll sweep clean her floors
and uncover the mirrors
she'll settle for that
and maybe let go

Events like this rarely make the news
