"The human figure is the main element that dominates my work. I find a strong physical and spiritual connection with the figures I create; physically, because they begin as a result of outlining my physical body into the canvas or paper surfaces; spiritually, because I approach them with spontaneity letting my emotions work their way out and into the work. The human figures are born, grow, laugh, cry, age and decay as they exist in their transitional state. They represent the human experience of being alive."

Readers of flashquake are familiar with the title art that I have produced for every issue of our publication for the past four years. Most of the titles are manipulations of photos that I took. (It sometimes surprises me that contributors think these illustrations are found in some vast cache of public domain images and matched to their work.) In "real life" I am a working artist.
For the beginning of our fifth year, our publisher, Debi Orton, suggested that I unmask myself and feature a select group of my work in the gallery. I've decided to focus on my photography and leave the painting for another time.
Whether manipulated or straight images, my photos are produced using a digital camera and prints are made from computer files rather than negatives. Whether working expressionistically or realistically, my work is grounded in traditional concepts of composition and color balance.
