Spring Cleaning by Kristy Anne Chaboudy

Meditation brings out the perfection in both the person and the place. With this awareness, I apply meditation to cleaning my home. Beginning with the bed, I strip the sheets and imagine I am removing all traces of dreadful dreams haunting me. Making the bed with fresh linens, I create a blank canvas on which to paint new reveries. I move to the floor and begin to brush away all traces of negativity. My mind rests on one thought, my mantra: sweep... sweep... Into the dust pan and out with the trash goes the debris. Mopping with unsoiled water cleanses not just my linoleum, but my soul, of impurities. The dirt goes down the drain and out of my life. My mind attempts to wander, but I harness it. I focus. I focus on the cleaning. The dust in my house intends to envelope me, to coat me with the residue of guilt and things forgotten. Undaunted, my mission is to transform this place into a temple. A feather duster my magic wand, I scatter and remove the heavy particles from my existence. My heart and mind grow clearer as a result. I am cleansed and renewed, and my temple too breathes with such life.
