We're pleased to announce our selections for flashquake's 2004 Pushcart Prize nominations.
In case you haven't heard, our Winter issue guest editor, Michael Wilson, has just published a wonderful, practical book on writing flash fiction: Flash Writing: How to Write Stories Less Than 1,000 Words Long. We've also published a review of the book, written by our own Didi Wood.
Beginning in the Spring 2005 issue of flashquake, Michael Wilson will be writing a quarterly column on writing flash fiction.
As a prompt to get us all writing after the holidays again, we will be sponsoring a fiction contest for original, unpublished short stories 500 words or less in length. The theme for this contest will be alternative realities — science fiction, speculative fiction, alternative history — use your imagination! The winning entries will be read aloud and recorded as MP3 files in a special supplemental issue.
To make sure you don't miss the announcement for this exciting contest, be sure to sign up for our free e-mail newsletter. We'll be sending out information on the contest soon, so sign up now to make sure you receive it.
