Our Featured Artist — Marge Ballif Simon
"Some artists paint what they see, others what they feel. Others make statements, fodder for the critics. In "The Painted Word", Tom Wolfe says that modern art turned literary, so to make it something more than what the viewer sees. I don't know. It's like finding forms in changing clouds. Whatever I see in the flow of watercolor or in the strokes of gouache is what I pull out. I do this with oil pastel pencils or pen and ink. I can't say it's profound, it's just there. I want you to see it too, feel something. With what I do, the story doesn't always have to come first."Patti Cassidy
"Light excites me. Light and sharp shadow electrifies me. I think that this delight shows in my pictures. I hope that those who see them will become as aware of the power of light on the world as I am."
