Butterfly and Fern 22" X 26" X 2", Mosaic — stained glass on plywood A butterfly has landed on a fern frond that dominates the composition of this mosaic. The small pieces of stained glass are chosen both for color and the subtle shadings with the glass. The fern frond runs diagonally across the frame and the butterfly is given importance by the cropping which cuts off the end as if the leaves are secondary to the butterfly that occupies dead center of the frame. The glass is mounted on plywood and the spaces between the small glass chips are filled with grout.
