What's New?

This is the debut of what we hope to make a regular feature here at flashquake — flash literature news. We hope those of you who read, write and publish flash literature will forward your news and announcements to us.

  • We have compiled a list of flash (and general) literature resources on our Recommended page, and have linked each title with its page on the Amazon.com web site. We are hoping that you'll use these links — or the general purpose Amazon link at the bottom of the page — to buy books and other items at Amazon, since a portion of your purchase will be donated to flashquake to help us pay our writers and expand our offerings.

  • Please help us welcome Didi Wood, our new editor. Didi has already made some great contributions to our staff, not the least of which is her wonderful Editor's Corner essay in this issue.

  • Beginning with this issue, we are providing text descriptions of the work presented in the gallery for our readers with visual impairments, using the LONGDESC attribute or for those of you with older screen readers, a link to the text description just beneath the artwork. If you have any other suggestions on how we might improve our publication or make it more accessible, please let us know. (9/1/03)

  • Two of Michael Arnzen's pieces from last year were listed as "Recommended Reading" in the latest volume (#16) of The Year's Best Fantasy & Horror (edited by Datlow and Windling). One of them, Tugging the Heartstrings, was published in the Winter 2002/2003 issue of flashquake! Congratulations, Michael!(8/29/03)

  • Effective December 1, 2003 flashquake will no longer accept hard copy, land mailed submissions. We will be implementing an online submission system soon, that will eliminate some of the problems we and our potential contributors have experienced with our current e-mail based submission system.
