"My visual technique consists in the use of impastos to create texture, the use of line to highlight the significance of drawing, and the use of perpendiculars for a dynamic effect. Art, in its essential form, should be about beauty: the search for order in things such as color harmonies and composition."

  • A. Davis Broughton
"In the Real Musicians series I have made an effort to infuse the visage of the individual artist with a particular sense of movement and expression that comes from the combination of sounds and rhythm into visual imagery. This expressionist use of color and markmaking within the bounds of representationism has allowed me great freedom in my attempts to transfer a total visual and auditory expeience into a visual metaphor. I hope you like them."
