flashquake Poetry

do not insult me
by E. Bills

do not insult me
with your equality,

measures cloned and
          pleasures
honed for
          sameness,

do not insult me by e. bills

and nature
          shamed
though blameless:

fairly gauged,
          I am not so fair
          I am not so wise
          I am not strong.

We are not created equal.

the awful throng simply
          refuses
to acquiesce,

the sparse superior
          heeds the farce under
lawful duress

          and
democracy convenes
at the feast

(a charitable symmetry
befitting man
          at his least).
