Hush, now, Mommy's here. Can you smile for Mommy? Somebody's sleepy. Peekaboo. Are you hungry? Pet the doggy. Good boy. Don't put that in your mouth. I think you need a nap. Say please. Let the nice doctor look in your ear. Sit still; I'm almost done. Don't pull kitty's tail. Why? Because kitty doesn't like it when you pull her tail. What do you say? Remember to look both ways. If you want some pudding, you're going to have to finish your broccoli. Don't hit your sister. I'm not going to tell you again. Did you wash your hands? Did you brush your teeth? Say thank you. It's past your bedtime, young man. Don't pick your nose. Don't scratch there in front of people. Ask your father. How was school today? The daddy plants a seed in the mommy's stomach. Say you're sorry. No, you can't keep the lizard. How did you get paint all over your shirt? Didn't I tell you not to eat all your candy? We have to take turns.
Why? Because everyone wants a chance. How would you like it if someone hogged the ball all the time and never let you have a turn? Don't sit so close to the TV. You can try it, but I don't think you're going to like it. We don't use that word in this house. You can't be so rough with girls. What's 5 times 5? When are you going to clean your room like I asked you to? How do you spell Mississippi? I don't care if everybody's going. Did you finish your homework? I'm not a mind reader. Don't just stand there letting all the cold air out. How do you expect to get better if you don't practice? Before you go, I want you to rake the leaves. Why? Because I said so. Are you going out like that? Where are you going? Stand up straight. You're supposed to call if you're going to be late. How did the game go? What did you say? Don't ever pull a stunt like that again. No, you can't borrow the car tonight. I'm not your maid. It'll be good for you. I hope you know what you're doing. Are you going to be warm enough in that? How was the dance? Turn that thing down. Why? Don't get smart with me, young man. If you want to be treated like an adult, you have to act like one. Don't forget to write. Money doesn't grow on trees, you know. Are you getting enough sleep? Your friends are always welcome here. Sounds like it's getting serious. What did I tell you? You never listen. It's up to you. She seems very nice. What's the hurry? You have to live your own life. It won't be the same without you here. If you love each other, that's the most important thing. Your father's not the easiest man in the world to live with. Wait till you find out what it's like to be a parent. A boy or a girl? As long as it's healthy, nothing else matters. He's got your chin. Hush, now, there's nothing to cry about.
