To qualify, your entry must be received by midnight, PST, on November 31, 2002.

Winners will be notified by December 20. If you do not hear from us by December 21, you can assume that your entry was NOT a winner. Please note that editorial comments will not be provided for contest submissions.

Winning entries (all 10 of them) will be published in a special January 1, 2003 supplement published on the flashquake site. Also included in the supplemental issue will be stories on the contest theme by flashquake's editors.

If your story is selected, flashquake seeks first North American electronic rights to publish it in our supplemental issue, which will remain current on our site until March 1, 2003. After March 1, 2003, your story will be moved to our online archives, where it will remain unless we receive a request from you to remove it from our archives any time after March 1, 2003.

The title art for this page was adapted from a photograph of an art doll by Selkie Whitebear taken by Roger Paris.
