The empty angel,
torn between hunger
and complacency, turns
her head to note
her space in time.
She marks the instant
before expectant silence
presses air thick and heated
against her body,
awakens sensations
of desire. Fire envelops her,
red-gold heat beckons,
like fruit to pluck
and eat. Leaving sweet juices
and dry feathers on her tongue.
