Reflections: Another Year Passing by Michelle B. Turner

These years have come to be
a comfortable coverlet
woven in joy and wisdom
unknown in youthful exuberance.

Eyes in mirrored glass show time
worn lines that once would have
brought tears.
Now they remind me
all things must transform.

Failing energies give way
to an easiness of Spirit;
Spirit content to stride less quickly
along the Soul Journey’s Path.

I observe the changes
brought by time;
figure, face, skin,
Age ravaged.

The Soul ever young,
ever vibrant, doth not change.
A child peeps still from
vivid green orbs
fringed with lashes dark.

Another year with
Essence fresh,
wisdom earned,
some battles won,
others stand before me

While my body may age
the Spirit never dulls,
It is ever enduring,
ever ardent,
ever free.
